ạtė (pronounced eight or aah-tay) was founded in 2019.

From the moment two slightly delusional siblings first stepped into the space ạtė now calls home, they knew something special would grow here.

ạtė is our family’s love letter to hospitality.

Our food draws inspiration from everywhere: the spice alleys of the Middle East, the cultures of fermentation across East Asia, the fire and curing traditions of the Americas and the timeless techniques of Europe. The result is not fusion for fusion’s sake, but food with its own DNA.

You might find cod wrapped in lardo with vermouth cream and toasted hazelnuts, or tuna cured with Thai and Indian spices served on a charcoal and black olive tostada. Our dishes are playful, unconventional and deeply considered, shaped by travel, curiosity, memory and a desire to push creative boundaries while remaining grounded in flavour and warmth.

At the bar, the team (working under the guidance of the founder of Re\Volver) approaches cocktails with the same philosophy. Classics are reinterpreted with restraint and personality alongside original signatures built around carefully chosen hero ingredients.

Our kitchen is led by a young team of ambitious Kenyan chefs whose creativity and discipline shape the experience every day, supported by a warm and attentive front-of-house team.

We believe in continual improvement, thoughtful sourcing and a commitment to learning, building relationships with farmers, artisans and suppliers across Kenya who share our standards and values.
